Description | I. NATURE OF POSITION:
- The School Nutrition Building Facilitator shall be responsible to the Director of the School Nutrition Program, Building Principal, and the Superintendent.

The School Nutrition Building Facilitator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the food preparation and distribution at his/her assigned building.

The School Nutrition Building Facilitator is responsible for providing each student with food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness, and personal caring.
II. TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Supervise the activities of the School Nutrition Servers who assist in preparing, portioning, and serving meals according to menus and in quantities that follow the state nutritional guidelines.
- Maintains meals accounts, notifies students when they have a low balance, and prepares weekly and monthly meal count summaries.
- Forwards all applications for free and/or reduced price meals to the Business Office.
- Develops breakfast menu items using the state nutritional guidelines.
- Inspects school lunch facility to insure that standards of diet, cleanliness, health, and safety are being maintained.
- Maintains an inventory of all foods, supplies and equipment in assigned building from the main storeroom supplies.
- Assumes responsibility for receiving, storing, handling, preparing, and serving food according to established standards.
- Promotes student and staff satisfaction by preparing and serving meals in an attractive manner.
- Work cooperatively with the building principal, School Nutrition Servers.
- Insure that serving and eating areas are clean, neat and sanitary prior to, during and following meals.
- Performs other related duties and related activities as assigned.
III. MINIMUM PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior experience in the school nutrition programs preferred
- Hold other qualifications as the state, Superintendent of Schools, and Board of Trustees may demand at the time of selection
- Ability to operate district-sponsored computer software programs.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
- Able to express himself/herself clearly and concisely in both oral and written communications.
- Able to perform duties with an awareness of all District requirements and Board policies.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities
- Ability to maintain standard of cleanliness and sanitation in work areas.
- Physical strength necessary to perform occasional lifting of a minimum 40#.
- Ability to stand on feet for an extended period of time.
- Ability to read and follow recipe directions.
- Ability to use basic arithmetic skills in filling kitchen orders and preparing recipes.
- Ability to accept and follow general direction from supervisors.
- Appearance and personal cleanliness suited to working in food service environment.
- Ability to carry forth a professional positive attitude with all district employees.
- Ability to attend and obtain an 8 hour ServSafe class and certification.
- Maintain the required annual training hours.
- Have satisfactory results in the following district-sponsors employee screenings: criminal justice/fingerprint background check, and employment physical assessment.
